Caroline Kaiser replied to Kelly Kirk's discussion Average Cost to Edit? in the group Fiction
"As others are saying, much depends on what services the editor is providing (e.g., line edit or manuscript evaluation), and whether the edit needs to be light or heavy, which depends on the quality of the author's writing. That being said, $500…"

Caroline Kaiser replied to jeff herman's discussion TOO MANY WRITERS, TOO FEW SLOTS? in the group Fiction
"No, absolutely not. I think it's great that people who normally wouldn't have been published in the past for whatever reason can now do so via self-publishing. And although many authors are pursuing traditional publishers, I've met…"

I'm a freelance editor, and I've been editing since 2006. One of my joys is working with self-publishing authors, and I specialize in editing fiction in a variety of genres (young adult, children's, and historical, to name a few) and memoirs. I have a background in editing university-level textbooks and also materials for museums and auction houses. I obtained my editing certificate from George Brown College here in Toronto, and I'm an active member of both the Editors' Association of Canada (EAC) and the Writers & Editors Network (WEN). When not busy editing, I'm writing fiction!

Boy Caroline,

That friendship acceptance was fast! This social networking thing is still very new to me - so you'll have to forgive my stumbling around in the dark right now.

I'm going to change my profile picture to my author's shot as soon as I have one available for the computer. My book's cover is too dark for my profile picture.

Cheers for now!

Yours,

Hans
