I am now an indie publisher and I have an imprint called Classic Hollywood Press. I am compiling a list of the top 100 best films of all time. I have seen other lists and have watched most of the films. I would like some new input. What is your favorite film of all time and why?

I love psychological thrillers.  Here are three of my favorites:

The Talented Mr. Ripley.  Great portrait of a psychopath in action.  He's a manipulator, a chameleon, impulsive and a natural predator.

The Silence of the Lambs,  Maybe best ever villain and protagonist.  "People will say we're in love."

A Clockwork Orange.  Talk about manipulation!  First we're taught to hate and fear Alex, then to pity him.  It's a film about conditioning that conditions the viewers.

I was too young when I first saw A Clockwork Orange. I think I will have to watch it again. I have seen The Talented Mr. Ripley so many times because I love it. The Silence of the Lambs is chilling and the acting is superb. Thanks for this reply.

Love the photo of Alex.  The film opens with a shot of his face and it's terrifying.
